Number of leads/email list growth: As its name suggests, you can use this metric to keep track of how many new leads you capture over time. Like I mentioned before, the most common way to capture leads is by collecting email addresses, so you can track this metric by looking at the growth of your email list. You will be able to get this number directly from any tool that you use to capture leads.

Thanks for epic post. I actually purchased the Perfect Sales Funnel program many months ago, and shamefully have not yet worked through the program, which I am planning on doing this weekend coincidentally. My question is, has anything changed that I should be aware of in the last 6 or so months since I bought it? As we know on this online space, things change fast and furiously! Thank you 🙂
Great listing and especially the honest look at what being in an MLM means. Direct sales is a hard business, especially if you’re not passionately using the product daily. You see too many people who join thinking it will be a get rich quick scheme and don’t actually care about the product or their customers. Genuine lasts and is successful, companies like Avon and Mary Kay have been around for generations because people love their products.
In March I joined an MLM company and I’m lost… my first reaction to network marketing was I’m not a sales person, to which I was told it’s not about sales but about building relationships. The other thing that makes me crazy is I see a lot of folks who appear so fake with their bubbly “everything is coming up roses and bubble gum” that I cringe. I’m honest to a fault and happy but not giddy. I feel like I have writers block in that I’m not sure what direction to take to get my business going, the struggle is real right now… Any thoughts or suggestions I can take away.

I’m torn. I use Rodan+Fields but never considered being a distributor. Then a friend of mine introduced me to Jeunesse and got me fired up to be part of his team. I said “yes”. But now I’m wondering if the company is right for me because a) I read some negative stuff online about the company, the products, lawsuits, however the team is amazing! b) I actually really like what R+F has done for my skin therefore I feel I connect with the company more.
You could change the title of this article to “why driving for Uber is a bad side hustle or why opening your own business is a bad side hustle” because every single point you’ve made about mlms is also true about those as well as most start-ups! Uber doesn’t buy you a car does it? Nope you need a car so you’ll have a car payment, gas, insurance repairs etc and Uber keeps a % plus you’ll need a phone and a phone plan $$$$. How many people actually work long enough at Uber to “make a profit” then? Not even 1%? Ok now let’s talk about a lease, employees, inventory, insurance equipment permits accountants kawyers and taxes for a business start up. How long do you have to work to make a profit?. Years and years and years and most fail leaving them in huge debt.
You’d probably think I’d lost my marbles, and I don’t blame you. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, it was a common marketing strategy to send out mass advertisements via fax machine, similar to today’s mass-email marketing campaigns. They worked. They were a viable marketing strategy because everyone had a fax machine, and used it on a daily basis. Now? Millennials are stumped when it comes time to operate one and the majority of Gen-Z doesn’t even know what a fax machine is. http://smartbusinesstrends.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/ClickFunnelsPricing-table.png

Unfortunately, not everyone who makes it through the first few stages of his funnel will be a good fit. As an example, a prospect might complete stages 1-3, but not have the financial resources available to complete the purchase. Or a lead might be enthusiastic about the product, but not the decision-maker in his or her organization. While the content pieces Norman has created will be helpful in educating all prospective customers and moving them through the different stages of the funnel, Norman needs to familiarize himself with and implement two concepts:

In 2003, Thirty-One Gifts was founded by Cindy Monroe. Because she saw a need among women who didn’t have time to visit gift shops and boutiques, she decided to bring these shops to them. Thirty-One consultants offer totes, purses, thermal bags, and organizing items at home parties, catalog parties and online. What’s more, you can invest in this MLM for just $99. In return, you’ll receive the enrollment kit. This includes more than $400 worth of new products and business supplies. In short, you’ll get everything you need to successfully start your business.

A couple of weeks ago, I returned from Boise, Idaho where I got a chance to hang out with, Russell Brunson. If you don’t know who he is, you’ve probably been hiding under a rock for the past couple of years. Brunson is the founder of a software company called ClickFunnels. Today, that company has grown into a behemoth and has shot past $100 million in sales and nearly 60,000 subscribers to its SaaS platform.
Carl Rehnborg is credited as having started the multi-level marketing industry back in the 1930s. After learning about the benefits of dietary supplements in China, Rehnborg came back to the United States and started a company called The California Vitamin Company, which was later rebranded to Nutrilite. Six years after that rebranding, Rehnborg reorganized the company’s structure and the way it sold products into what we know as MLM today.
Hi Miles, I've been following you on youtube for a while now 🙂 Really good and valuable information! I have a question for you which I could not figure out an answer to yet. Let's say I picked a niche and I found a number of products to promote. Do I need to have a website/blog for the niche? In addition to a funnel (or funnels). Or I can build it later? The reason I am asking is that at the moment I have no idea what content I need. Hope it makes sense. Thanks, SV
Reviews are the second golden ticket for middle of the funnel digital marketing—92 percent of online consumers read them, and 88 percent of them trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. Here’s one probable explanation why: consumers don’t trust advertising and marketing anymore, if they ever really did. Now, it’s no longer shut-your-eyes-and-hope-for-a-good-refund-policy—people can effectively shop based on others’ experiences (which is one reason customer service is so important).
Example: Angela Fehr, who teaches watercolor classes on her Teachable school, offers a wide variety of courses like landscaping, fluid painting, and creative painting. Angela created a comprehensive bundle of her individual courses. It’s called called “Watercolor University” and it includes a total of twelve courses, which she sells for a premium price.
Appreciate the hard work studying this… Im apart of the #1 company on there Advocare… have been for 7 years and one of the higher paid single guys in the nation… I just have to disagree with “over priced Products” comment. There is a mark up on every product in the world… Our products actually work which is why those endorsers you mentioned turn down high level incomes with other companies to endorse us for a stipend of products per month. Advocare has numerous people making a great profit and even more just enjoying a product they would pay double what they do for to feel the way they do. Success rate isnt low my friend… Its just the quit rate is through the roof. Highly recommend everyone seeing this and you sir to watch “Rise of the Entrepreneur” by Eric Worre on Itunes to get some serious facts about the MLM industry. Thanks for all the research and blessings!
MLMs have been made illegal in some jurisdictions as a mere variation of the traditional pyramid scheme, including in mainland China.[10][11] In jurisdictions where MLMs have not been made illegal, many illegal pyramid schemes attempt to present themselves as MLM businesses.[7] Given that the overwhelming majority of MLM participants cannot realistically make a net profit, let alone a significant net profit, but instead overwhelmingly operate at net losses, some sources have defined all MLMs as a type of pyramid scheme, even if they have not been made illegal like traditional pyramid schemes through legislative statutes.[4][19][20] https://i.ytimg.com/vi/pqT8yFqx858/maxresdefault.jpg

To be clear, MLM is a viable home-based business opportunity. Anyone interested in selling a product to generate income has the ability to achieve success. With that said, it is crucial to research and investigate the company and products thoroughly to make sure that it's not a scam, and also, that it's a product and system you feel you can promote. There are many single-level marketing (selling products without a recruiting component) companies where the likelihood of generating income is much higher than typical MLM statistics.
This comes back to the money-versus-time paradigm. If you have the money to run ads and traffic, great. If you don’t, you need other alternatives. In fact, this specific dilemma forced me to learn search engine optimization. And it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Not only is this great for running your own traffic, but you can also work with clients and charge untold amounts of money to optimize their sites for keywords.
One of the challenges of MLM is convincing prospects to buy or join with you as opposed to the other reps that live in the neighborhood or they know online. You're selling the same stuff as thousands of others, meaning consumers have a choice. You need to do something that makes you unique compared to everyone else. Give people a reason to choose you over other reps. Some options include more personalized service, starting your own rewards program, or something that offers greater value. https://goto.clickfunnels.com/hosted/images/91/ffd2c081f611e8a780e1e6bc38813f/Mother-funnel_action.png
Hey Miles! I'm a total newbie when it comes to this and this article has been EXTREMELY helpful, so thank you! I am extremely grateful! I do have a question though and I'm hoping you have an answer and/or an alternative solution to this. I'm trying to use a custom domain name with my ClickFunnels account by integrating it via WordPress. I've installed the ClickFunnels plugin on my WordPress site and connected it with the API key and was able to set up the pages I wanted and the links I wanted to use for each step of my funnel, however; whenever I go to the links to test the sites it just redirects to a 404 page. I'm not sure what is going on and I can't find anything on the internet that suggests why this is happening. The weird thing is that I can get the Optin page to work if I set it as the Homepage in the ClickFunnels plugin but when you advance to the Thank You page it uses the bulky unattractive ClickFunnels link. Have you seen this before? If not, do you have a better way of using custom domain names with ClickFunnels?
I am an expert blogger, online entrepreneur & internet marketing coach who provides vital training and personalized help for those looking to build, brand, and grow their blog and online business the right way, the first time. If you try to opt-in with the same information to get another video, they ask you to sign up again. I believe that is their process. Like I said, that creates some friction. Yes, you can enter a fake email, but, if you believe in the quality of the content (and it is really good content; Andrew is one of the best interviewers on the Internet), you won’t. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/CoTzY4GiQUw/maxresdefault.jpg
Independent non-salaried participants, referred to as distributors (variously called "associates", "independent business owners", "independent agents", etc.), are authorized to distribute the company's products or services. They are awarded their own immediate retail profit from customers plus commission from the company, not downlines, through a multi-level marketing compensation plan, which is based upon the volume of products sold through their own sales efforts as well as that of their downline organization.
Hey guys! Zach Miller here. Today I’m going to teach you five ways you can use a sales funnel to build your network marketing business. So maybe you’re not seeing the results from network that others are raving about, right? Well, let me explain what you might be doing wrong. I’ll also cover how you can use a sales funnel to build your networking business.
What is a network marketing professional? Tell me what that is. A person who can approach well-dressed people in Wal-mart and hand them their MLM business card? Someone who writes a list of their family and friends and then 3-way call them with their “higher-up” sponsor? Really, if someone can tell me what being a network marketing professional entails, I’m listening.
MLMs are successful because they provide tempting possibilities — the more you recruit, the more you sell, and the more you make. The possibility for income seems almost endless. However, only a few companies can make this dream a reality. So how do you spot the good ones from the bad ones? Look at the product. If the company has put time and money into creating a valuable product, they will put time and money into selling it.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading your mlm breakdowns and the comments, thank you Jeremy. Had a successful mlm business but had to make a decision to give it up or have a breakdown due to ongoing upline bullying so at a big crossroads at the minute. being an ‘older’ lady here in the north of England doesn’t bode well for conventional job hunting in the current economic climate so some serious thinking needed on my part and QUICKLY lol. Thanks again Jeremy x

At some point, a visitor becomes a potential customer when they consider whether the service or product offered is a match for their needs. This may happen during their first visit to your website or months later. We often get lost in conversions and forget about the number of returning visitors. Our content and its messaging should speak to consumers who may be on-the-fence or just doing research at the time and return later for their purchase. A single serving message that attempts to get the visitor to convert now is usually the case for the majority of websites content. We lose sight that not everyone will convert on the first visit. However, at this point in the online marketing funnel, we want to make our unique value proposition clear and provide information that the user needs to make the purchasing decision.
Often the only way to make these sales is to recruit people under you (making commission off their starter kits) or to buy products yourself. Otherwise you’re left trying to sell your products to friends, family, mums at the school gates, and anyone you come into contact with (one of the reasons why some of the more pushy/desperate MLM reps get a bad reputation).
If they are, the company is strong, and the product or service is a winner, then you will succeed. You will have to put the effort in to learn the systems and processes that make it work, but there's a big difference between a sponsor and a recruiter. A sponsor coaches, motivates, and trains while a recruiter simply signs people up and, in most cases, abandons them once their commission is collected. https://goto.clickfunnels.com/hosted/images/4a/596c907e2e11e8acb4af86f3625d16/clickfunnels-right2.png
You shouldn't have to explain network marketing to them. In an online sales funnel for network marketing, you should let the tools and the videos and the resources do all the heavy lifting for you. If they're not doing a good job, then your tools or your resources that are supposed to be doing the heavy lifting are broken. You need to own it and just create some yourself. Get with an upline, get with somebody who knows how to do a little bit of video marketing, create some of that stuff, and let that stuff do the heavy lifting for you. https://fulltimehomebusiness-jzijrpsm431pzqgkjbx.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/clickfunnelsalternatives.png
I enjoyed this post and spent too many hours reading all your other posts and watching your videos. You have some excellent real life experiences to share and glad I found this blog. My wife and I are with It Works Global (She started it and I came on board later). I was curious why they didn’t make your list? Do you think blogging would work with this type MLM? I have only had success using Instagram and Facebook. The MLM model is not something I like but it is what is I guess. My wife joined to get a discount on wraps and now this insane looking chart pays the bills. I want to take it further just keep searching for a good way to do so. Maybe blogging is the answer? Thank you. for your time. Mike https://www.onlinedimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/rsz_screenshot_at_oct_06_16-36-05-1.png
Since ClickFunnels is a great offer, you should have no qualms with promoting it. You can also promote the other items in the CF value ladder, which would include the Expert Secrets book or the Dot Com Secrets book. Getting a sale on either of those is certainly not too complicated. But you do have to understand the inherent power of affiliate marketing. At it’s basis is the necessity to add exceeding heaps of value.
Everyone wants to make money online. But is it realistic? Is it a goal that’s achievable? That’s the question that so many ask. The truth? The internet marketing industry is full of smoke and mirrors. Yes, certain things are not what they seem. But, behind the curtains, there is real magic taking place. When you can leverage certain principles of selling, you can shatter through whatever you thought to be true in the past. https://blog.meshagency.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/ClickFunnels-Alternative_Mesh-Blog-Post_CTA-Banner-2.jpg

Melaleuca, Inc. is listed as a Direct Marketing Company. The company contracts with independent marketing executives who refer customers to Melaleuca that purchase its various lines of nutritional, pharmaceutical, personal care, household cleaning, and pet care products. They also offer travel, phone and credit card services. Customers receive discounts if they order a minimum monthly product supply, but are not required to maintain an inventory of products. The company states that it offers a “Satisfaction or Money Back Guarantee”.

Sometimes, when you’re stumped about why your sales funnel isn’t converting the optimal amount of customers, it helps to look at examples. We’ve revisited more than 10 companies that have strong sales funnels to see what changes they’ve made over the years. We’ve also added several brand new sales funnel examples and we plan to add more in the future.

The other thing that you can do is setup a landing page. Even if you found thousands of prospects, you haven’t captured their email address yet. You’re wasting a lot of energy just to recruit them and add them to your contact list. In order to capture their email addresses, you’re going to need to build a compelling and conversion optimized landing page.
Much has been made of the personal, or internal, consumption issue in recent years. In fact, the amount of internal consumption in any multi-level compensation business does not determine whether or not the FTC will consider the plan a pyramid scheme. The critical question for the FTC is whether the revenues that primarily support the commissions paid to all participants are generated from purchases of goods and services that are not simply incidental to the purchase of the right to participate in a money-making venture.[46]

A Mr. E. St. Elmo created the first “purchase model” way back in 1898 in an effort to systematize the sales process and, ultimately, improve results. He developed a model that mapped a theoretical customer journey from the moment a product attracted a consumer’s attention to the point of action or purchase. His model has guided marketers and sales teams for nearly a century.
Glad you like the content... I have unique views on what mentorship is and kinda ranted about it in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0UbzgR-s4M In short, I see every video and blog post that I put out as mentoring, so tune in all you want, join the live streams and most important, take action building your business!!!! But if you are asking if I do one on one coaching or consulting, I don't.
Actually, it really doesnt matter when you join a company. It all depends on the person deciding to jump in and work it as a real business. That means sharing your love of the products and showing up daily. You are compensated for your efforts if you should decide to build a team. You inspire, motivate, and lead others while working on your own business. In my experience, it’s extremely rewarding to know you have a opportunity or as i see it as a gift that is going to help someone.
Another great approach for how to actually make money online is If you’re savvy with social media. You can start a social media marketing business and make money that way. It doesn’t take much effort. Get a grasp on the big platforms like Facebook and Instagram and Snapchat. Then get out there and market your services. That’s pretty much what it takes to win in this field.
Launches: If you already have an audience, then you should definitely consider going big to introduce your product to the public—that’s what launching is about. A launch can help you gain the initial traction your business needs to grow, but there is more to launching than just pushing your product live. Great launch strategies involve slowly warming up the communication with your audience and then sending them the right content that convinces them to purchase.
